Function
This reinforcing strike provides strength equal to the strength of the stainless steel bolt of the MS1847 Deadlock: tested to 1,000 lbs. of force. This strength by far exceeds the standards of the Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association as well as the strictest current municipal security ordinance.
Because most Adams Rite dead locks are installed in metal construction, the strike cutout can simply be a slot cut into the jamb. However, this is aesthetically unpleasing, and does not provide the maximum security.
Adams Rite strikes solve this problem with a series of strikes designed for any type of Adams Rite deadlock. The 4800 series is for narrow stile aluminum doors and is made of aluminum. It is available in clear, dark bronze and black anodized finishes.
The 4800 series is for sliding door locks and is made of heat treated steel with a zinc finish. This series comes with a shim system to accommodate door/jam misalignment due to improper installation or settling. Strikes are available for either metal or wood jambs.
In addition to these two series of strikes, and the electric strikes available, Adams Rite offers two strikes designed for use with their dead latches. These are manufactured of stainless steel and are unhanded so can be used with right or left hand doors. They are available for metal or wooden door jambs.
